About the DePaul Emeritus Society

DePaul University values its ongoing connections with its faculty and staff retirees, as it values their past contributions to the university’s mission. The DePaul University Emeritus Society was founded in 2008 with the merger of the Staff Emeritus Society and the Emeritus Professors Association. The Society is sponsored by the University’s Office of Mission and Values.

The purpose of the DePaul Emeritus Society is to provide a means for ongoing connection, communication, and socialization between the university and its emeritus faculty and staff, and between individual retirees whose professional lives were for so many years dedicated to university service.

In Memoriam - Stanley Schmidt

Stanley E. Schmidt, 67, of Elmhurst. Born April 3, 1944 in New Orleans, LA and died in Chicago on October 29, 2011. Dear son of the late Ervin H. and Clara B. Schmidt; brother of Thomas (Kathryn) Schmidt; uncle of Margaret Schmidt. As a Luthier, Stanley worked doing restoration and tonal adjustments of classical instruments. For many years Stanley worked as a part time Reference Librarian at DePaul and Northeastern Illinois Universities in Chicago. Memorial Services at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 5, 2011. Interment private. In lieu of flowers memorials will be appreciated for the DePaul University, Office of Advancement, 1 E. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60604 or N.E.I.U. Foundation, Library Fund, 5500 N. St. Louis Ave., Chicago, IL 60625, please indicate "In Memory of Stanley Schmidt" in memo.
