Introduction

About the DePaul Emeritus Society

DePaul University values its ongoing connections with its faculty and staff retirees, as it values their past contributions to the university’s mission. The DePaul University Emeritus Society was founded in 2008 with the merger of the Staff Emeritus Society and the Emeritus Professors Association. The Society is sponsored by the University’s Office of Mission and Values.

The purpose of the DePaul Emeritus Society is to provide a means for ongoing connection, communication, and socialization between the university and its emeritus faculty and staff, and between individual retirees whose professional lives were for so many years dedicated to university service.

Photos, events, and information of interest to members of the DePaul Emeritus Society will be posted to this blog. Please take a look, add your comment, offer to be an "author" or just enjoy.

DES Luncheon, May 18, 2012

We hope you are planning on joining us for the Spring DES Luncheon on May 18, 2012.  By now you should have received your invitation.  If not, click on the image below and respond to Alice Farrell.

Dr. Susan Solway, History of Art and Architecture Chair, will provide us with an understanding of the plans that went into the design of the newest building on the Lincoln Park Campus, the Art and Letters Hall.  After lunch she will lead us on a tour of the facility which is across the street from the Student Center where our lunch will be held.

Come and meet several of the 2012 DES Scholarship recipients.  With the generous contribution of our DES members and the matching grant from Mission and Values, the DES has been able to grant nearly $15,000 to upper class undergraduates.

And, help us elect the next two positions on the Steering Committee.

Vincentian Service Day, May 5, 2012

Don't miss the fun when more than 1,200 DePaul volunteers join forces with nearly 100 community partners across Chicago on Saturday, May 5th for Vincentian Service Day 2012.

All DePaul students, faculty, staff, alumni, retirees and friends are welcome to participate. Registration is now open for individuals at www.serviceday.depaul.edu but hurry as space is limited.

This year we also encourage participants to contribute to the St. Vincent de Paul parish's Seton Sandwich Kitchen. The Seton Sandwich Kitchen serves approximately 125 poor and homeless guests each morning, Monday through Saturday, serving over 28,000 sandwiches, 31,000 cups of coffee, and about 1,000 special holiday meals throughout the year. Beyond a morning meal, the Kitchen provides a safe and hospitable environment for guests to find refuge and community.

Make a difference by contributing funds to the Seton Sandwich Kitchen collection table, on the morning of the event, ensuring warm meals throughout the year for our guests in need.

For questions, to register a group, or to suggest a community partner that could benefit from DePaul volunteers, please contact Ruben Alvarez Silva at RSILVAAL@DEPAUL.EDU or (773) 325-1193.

Sincerely, University Ministry Vincentian Community Service Office
