Introduction

About the DePaul Emeritus Society

DePaul University values its ongoing connections with its faculty and staff retirees, as it values their past contributions to the university’s mission. The DePaul University Emeritus Society was founded in 2008 with the merger of the Staff Emeritus Society and the Emeritus Professors Association. The Society is sponsored by the University’s Office of Mission and Values.

The purpose of the DePaul Emeritus Society is to provide a means for ongoing connection, communication, and socialization between the university and its emeritus faculty and staff, and between individual retirees whose professional lives were for so many years dedicated to university service.

Photos, events, and information of interest to members of the DePaul Emeritus Society will be posted to this blog. Please take a look, add your comment, offer to be an "author" or just enjoy.

Vincentian Service Day

Don't miss the fun when more than 1,600 DePaul volunteers join forces with nearly 100 community partners across Chicago on Saturday, May 4th  for our 13th Annual Vincentian Service Day 2013.

All DePaul students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends are welcome to participate. Registration is now open for individuals at www.serviceday.depaul.edu but hurry as space is limited.

As a continuation of the Blue for Peace project (https://www.facebook.com/blueforpeace), this year's Vincentian Service Day will culminate with a picnic and a peace festival on the Quad.  DePaul's Blue for Peace Project is a response to the President's Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge, initiated by the White House.  Now in its second year, Blue for Peace continues with its goal to positively contribute towards addressing the pervasive issue of youth violence in the city of Chicago.

For questions, or to suggest a community partner that could benefit from DePaul volunteers, please contact serviceday@depaul.edu or (773)325-1192.

Those who cannot participate on May 4th are encouraged to sign up for an alternative day of service with Misericordia's Candy Days on Friday, April 26 or Saturday, April 27! Thousands of volunteers will be handing out Jelly Belly candies all day in exchange for donations. Visit www.misericordia.org for more information or email CandyDays@misericordia.com to register.

Sincerely,
University Ministry
Vincentian Community Service Office
