The DES is open to all faculty and staff of DePaul University who have retired from the university with 20 years of full-time service and are 55 years or older, or have retired from the university with 10 years of full-time service and are 62 years or older.

In Memoriam - Charles Douds
It is with sadness that we have learned of the death of Professor Charles "Chuck" Douds. Prof. Douds taught at DePaul from 1969 until his retirement in 1990 from the Management Department. He passed away on June 1 at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife Martha, three children, Bryn, Susan, and Laurie, and two grandchildren. Private services have been held. Memorial donations may be made to the Erik Douds Pediatric Diabetes Fund, St. Barnabas Medical Foundation, 95 Old Short Hills Road, West Orange, NJ 07052.

DOUDS, DR. CHARLES F. Dr. Douds died peacefully at home at Galleria Woods Retirement Community in Hoover, Al. on June 1, 2013. He was 82. Seventy two of those years he had Type 1 diabetes. He was born in Pennsylvania to Charles and Ella Douds. He is survived by his wife, Martha, and three children; Bryn Douds and wife Joanne, Susan Goertz and husband Jack, and Laurie Goldstein and husband Gary. There are two grandchildren; Haley and Erik Douds. Services for Dr. Douds will be private. In Memoriam - Michael O'Brien
DES has just learned of the passing of Michael O'Brien. Michael passed away on October 16, 2012 at The Grove in Evanston. There was a 10:00 a.m. memorial service the following day at Gincola Funeral Home in Chicago. He is buried at Forest Home Cemetery. Michael worked in the Loop Campus Public Safety/Security Department as an officer and sergeant from 1980 to 2008. He was 71 years old.

DES Outing - Peggy Notebaert Museum - June 26, 2013

If you have never been in a "Butterfly House" you will certainly enjoy the excitement of beautiful butterflies all around, some even landing on your shoulder. Get up close to more than 75 species of exotic butterflies and stunning bird species from the Southern hemisphere in a 2,700 square-foot greenhouse filled with pools of water, flowers, tropical trees and 1,000 butterflies, including those never-before-seen in our region. And, of course, there is much more to enjoy in the museum.
